Apple and puff pastry donuts are treats that have been trending online lately. I wanted to try making them too, and I must say they are truly delicious and very easy to prepare. A crispy puff pastry shell that encloses a soft and juicy slice of apple, flavored with sugar and cinnamon… try them!
I leave you with other ideas where I use apples or puff pastry, try these too.

Ingredients for apple donuts
- 2 Golden apples
- 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
- as needed milk
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- as needed ground cinnamon
Tools
- 1 Knife
- 1 Cookie cutter small
- 1 Baking tray oven-safe
Preparation of apple donuts
First, wash and dry the apples well. I used them with the peel, but you can peel them if you prefer.
1 – Cut the apples into slices about 0.4 inches thick, discarding the two bases (which are not to be thrown away but can be eaten as a snack!)
2 – Remove the core from each slice, using a small cookie cutter or something else round, like a piping nozzle.
3 – Then take the puff pastry, unroll it, and cut it into strips less than 0.4 inches thick.
4 – Use these strips to wrap around the apple slice.
5 – They will be completely covered with puff pastry. Place the donuts on a baking tray.
6 – Brush them with milk or you can use a beaten egg.
7 – Then flavor with sugar and cinnamon.
Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 20-30 minutes. They should turn golden. Once cooked, they can be eaten warm or cold.
Notes
They keep for a couple of days under a glass dome.
I recommend eating them the same day, not only are they tastier, but also crispier.
