At Easter I always like to bring something to the table that makes both kids and adults smile. This year I prepared an Easter bunny made with hard-boiled eggs — a fun, theatrical idea that’s really within everyone’s reach. Just a few ingredients and a pinch of imagination to transform ordinary eggs into a little star of the spring table.
It’s perfect as an appetizer, as an edible decoration for the Easter lunch, or as an activity to do with children. And then… how can you resist such a sweet little face?
And since hard-boiled eggs are always present at Easter, here are some other ideas
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Economical
- Rest time: 1 Hour
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Cooking time: 10 Minutes
- Cooking methods: Kitchen machine, Stovetop
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Easter Monday, Easter
Ingredients for the Easter bunny
- 2 eggs
- 2 black sesame seeds (for the eyes)
- as needed rosemary (the needles)
Tools
- 1 Kitchen machine Bimby tm31 – tm5 – tm6 – tm7
- 1 Saucepan
- 1 Knife sharp
- 1 Cutting board wooden
Preparation of the Easter bunny
Boil the eggs for 8 minutes, then immediately run them under cold water and let them cool. When they are cold, peel them gently so as not to damage them. Cut one egg in half vertically: one half will be the bunny’s body, while the other half divide into two wedges to be used as ears. Then cut the other egg in half horizontally and use one of the two parts as the head.
From the remaining part, cut two small pieces of egg white to form the little paws, using a small round cutter. Then move on to the final decoration: sesame seeds for the eyes and rosemary for the tail and whiskers.
If you don’t have sesame seeds for the eyes, you can use small pieces of olive or peppercorns. For the whiskers, thin strips of carrot work well too.
COOKING THE EGGS WITH BIMBY: For the Tm6 and Tm7 models you can use the egg-cooking function (hard-boiled).
For the Tm5 and Tm31 models, pour 2 cups of water into the mixing bowl, insert the basket and place the eggs inside. Close with the lid and cook at Varoma, speed 1, for 15-17 minutes. Remove the basket with the spatula and run the eggs under cold running water to stop the cooking.
TIPS & NOTES
💡 Useful tips
You can prepare it in advance and store it in the fridge until serving time.
If you want to make it more stable, use a little mayonnaise as an “edible glue”.
It’s also a perfect idea for a buffet or an Easter-themed snack.
🧪 How to store the Easter bunny
In the refrigerator
Maximum duration: 48 hours
Recommended temperature: between 32°F and 39°F
Ideal container: airtight or covered with plastic wrap
Placement: on the middle shelf, away from raw foods
Extra tips
Do not freeze: hard-boiled eggs change texture and flavor.
If you prepare it in advance, add the decorations at the last moment to keep them fresh and crunchy.
If serving to children, make sure it has been stored correctly and has no off odors.
