Notes
If you don’t have garlic powder, you can use a whole clove which can be removed at the end of cooking
We can prepare a light sauté by adding shallots, onions or scallions with the oil.
Instead of smoked bacon, for a milder flavor, you can use sweet bacon.
We can also use canned or fresh peas. Fresh ones, however, will need to be cooked for at least 30 minutes.
Peas and bacon can be stored in the refrigerator for a couple of days.
