Chestnuts in Air Fryer

The chestnuts in the air fryer are a very quick and easy cooking alternative. To make them, you will only need two ingredients: chestnuts and water. Making them is a breeze: I’ll teach you some little tricks to peel them in a second. Unlike the classic method, in this case, nothing will get dirty at home!   • 14 oz chestnuts
  • as needed water

Steps

  • First, score the chestnuts with a knife on the rounded part to prevent them from bursting during cooking. You can also make a cross. Place the chestnuts in a bowl with plenty of water and let them soak for about 1 hour. This will allow you to peel them much more easily once cooked.

    Then dry them well with a towel and transfer them directly to the air fryer basket with the cut side facing up.

  • Cook them at 392°F for about 15 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking. The cooking time depends on the size of the chestnuts: if very small, it will take only 10 minutes, but it could take 12, 15, or even 20 minutes, so I recommend checking the cooking. Alternatively, you can bake them in a hot oven at 410°F for about 30 minutes.
    Wait a few minutes and you can proceed to open them. Adjust with salt (if desired) and enjoy!

Tips for you


✔ If the chestnuts are fresh (i.e., just picked), you can skip the soaking step, although I always recommend this step.

✔ Check the cooking, they could be well-cooked even after 13 minutes.

✔ You can salt them to taste, I love them without adding salt.
