Creamy Chicken with Soy Sauce in Air Fryer

The creamy chicken with soy sauce is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Cooked this way, the chicken is even more delicious and savory, and above all, it is extremely easy to make. In this case, we will see how to cook it in an air fryer, but it can easily be done in a pan: below you will find both cooking methods.

To make the creamy chicken with soy sauce, we will need only a few ingredients: just put everything together, and you’re done. I also accompanied them with a super easy sauce, which is optional but recommended because it will make this dish even more special.

Ingredients

  • 0.88 lbs chicken breast
  • 3 tbsp potato starch
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • to taste sesame seeds
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp ketchup

Steps

  • AIR FRYER VERSION:
    Cut the chicken breast first into strips and then into smaller pieces. Transfer it to a bowl and add the potato starch, then mix well to coat. Add the soy sauce and the maple syrup, and continue mixing: the chicken will become very creamy.

  • Transfer the chicken directly into the basket of the air fryer (parchment paper is optional, I personally didn’t use it) and cook at 375°F for about 14 minutes; halfway through cooking, open and turn the chicken: it will be slightly stuck, which is normal, as the cream has thickened and brought the chicken pieces together; just mix it well with a spoon and continue cooking.

  • STOVE VERSION:
    Cut the chicken breast first into strips and then into smaller pieces. Transfer it to a bowl and add only the potato starch, then mix well to coat. In a pan, pour a drizzle of oil and let it heat for a minute. Transfer the chicken into the pan and brown each side for a few minutes. Then add the soy sauce and the maple syrup; lower the heat and let the sauce reduce, adding water if necessary; cook for about 10 minutes, turning often.

    SAUCE:
    Meanwhile, prepare a very easy sauce: in a bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the soy sauce, hot sauce, water, and ketchup. I then transferred the sauce into a container with a spout for easier pouring, but this step is obviously optional.

    I accompanied the creamy chicken with white rice, but it also goes well with vegetables or on its own. Serve and add the sauce and the white sesame seeds. Enjoy your meal!

Tips for you

 SUBSTITUTION: If you don’t have potato starch, you can use all-purpose flour or rice flour for a gluten-free version.

 As you have seen, I included two cooking versions: in an air fryer or in a pan (find everything above).

 Parchment paper is optional: I personally didn’t use it, but you can choose to put it in.
