Crispy Chicken Wrap in Air Fryer

An easy, quick, and perfect idea for a tasty lunch or dinner ready in less than 15 minutes: these crispy chicken wraps are made with a few ingredients but guarantee a truly delicious result! The chicken is breaded without frying, cooked in an air fryer to achieve a crispy exterior and tender inside, all with a decidedly lighter version compared to the classic fried one.
You can accompany your wraps with your favorite sauces and enrich them with fresh vegetables or cheeses as you like. Alternatively, you can also cook the chicken in the oven: the procedure provides all the details on times and temperatures. A versatile, quick, and truly irresistible recipe!

Ingredients

  • 14.1 oz chicken slices
  • 3.2 oz provola cheese
  • as needed panko (or breadcrumbs)
  • as needed lettuce
  • as needed mayonnaise
  • as needed salt
  • as needed extra virgin olive oil

Steps

  • Start by breading the chicken: directly pass the slices in the panko, making sure to press slightly to adhere the breading well. Alternatively, you can also use common breadcrumbs. After breading them, spray a little oil on both sides and place them in the air fryer basket. Cook at 375°F for about 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking. Times may vary slightly depending on the thickness of the slices. Alternatively, you can cook the chicken in the oven at 400°F for about 18-20 minutes, always remembering to flip them halfway through.

  • Once ready, proceed with the wrap assembly. Take a tortilla and place the ingredients in each of the four quadrants: in the top left quadrant, place the breaded chicken slices, in the top right a few thin slices of provola or other cheese of your choice, in the bottom right a few leaves of fresh lettuce, washed and dried, finally in the bottom left spread a light layer of mayonnaise. With kitchen scissors or a knife, cut to the center of the tortilla from the bottom edge, without going beyond the center. At this point, start folding each section over itself, following the order of the ingredients, until you get a compact triangular shape similar to a fan.

  • To finish, put the wrap back in the air fryer or oven for about 2 minutes: the cheese will melt perfectly, and the tortilla will become even crispier on the outside. Serve immediately and enjoy. Bon appétit!

Tips for You

– This recipe can be considered a perfect fridge-clearer idea: you can customize it with what you already have at home. Cured meats, different cheeses, grilled or raw vegetables, sauces, and spreads… everything can become the ideal filling for your wrap!

– If you don’t have panko, you can easily use classic breadcrumbs: the result will still be crispy and tasty, perhaps enriched with some spice or aromatic herb for an extra touch.

– For an even faster version, you can use already cooked chicken slices (like grilled or roasted ones) and skip directly to the assembly and reheating phase in the air fryer.

– The tortilla can also be replaced with Arabic bread, tortilla, or pita bread, adjusting the heating times based on the thickness.
