Easy Focaccia in Air Fryer

The recipe for easy focaccia in an air fryer is prepared in just a few minutes and is among the most simple you can find. To make it, we will need few and simple ingredients: flour, water, yeast (dry or fresh), honey or sugar, EVO oil, and salt. The dough for this focaccia is extremely simple to make, and the result will be a soft and fragrant focaccia, perfect to eat as is or accompanied by vegetables or cold cuts.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups Manitoba flour
  • 3/4 cup cup warm water
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp dry yeast (or 9 g if fresh)
  • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup cup water
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsps salt

Steps

  • In a bowl, pour the all-purpose flour and the Manitoba, then add the dry yeast (*if you use fresh or granular yeast, you can dissolve it in half of the water). Separately, dissolve the honey in the water, then start adding it gradually to the flours, mixing. Finally, add the salt and the EVO oil. Work the dough first in the bowl and then transfer it to the work surface, it will only take a few minutes. At this point, place it back in the bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise until it doubles in size (it can take about 2-3 hours, depending on room temperature).

  • Prepare the brine: in a small bowl, pour the water and add the EVO oil and the salt, then mix.

    Take the dough again, spread it on a sheet of parchment paper with oiled hands, and let it rise again for half an hour. Pour the brine on top and make the characteristic focaccia holes with your fingers.

  • Transfer the focaccia to a hot air fryer (preheated 3 minutes before) and cook at 356°F for 15 minutes, or in a hot oven at 392°F for 25 minutes.

Tips for You

✔ If the bottom is still white, turn it over and cook the underside for 2-3 minutes at most. Remember that even if the bottom seems pale, it doesn’t mean it’s raw, but you can solve this issue this way.

✔ Suitable for any air fryer, whether it’s oven-type like in this case or the classic drawer type.

✔ If your basket is small, you can make 2 focaccias and cook one at a time.

✔ The focaccia keeps well inside a well-sealed container at room temperature or in the fridge if external temperatures are very high (e.g., in summer). You can store it for up to 3 days.
