Potato Gateau in Air Fryer

The potato gateau is a very simple recipe to make, with few ingredients and a unique goodness that will conquer the palate of those who eat it. It is a recipe based on potatoes and cold cuts, with a characteristic golden crust on the surface that will make it even more delicious. This is one of the many versions, in this case with diced cooked ham and provolone cheese.

The potato gateau can be cooked in the oven or, as you will see in this recipe, directly in the air fryer: the difference will be a faster cooking compared to the oven, but you can find both cooking methods below.

Potato Gateau in Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 18 oz potatoes
  • 1 cup provolone cheese
  • 1.8 oz cooked ham
  • 1.4 oz grated parmesan
  • 2 eggs
  • as needed breadcrumbs
  • as needed extra virgin olive oil
  • as needed salt
  • as needed pepper

Steps

  • First, transfer the potatoes into a large saucepan, fill it with cold water and bring to a boil. Cook the potatoes until they are soft, about 30-40 minutes. In the meantime, dice the cooked ham. Take half of the provolone cheese and slice it, dice the other half.

    Once the potatoes are ready, peel them and mash them in a bowl; add the eggs, salt, a pinch of pepper and mix. Also add the cooked ham and provolone cheese, both diced, the parmesan and a drizzle of olive oil, then mix everything well.

  • Grease a baking pan (I recommend this one: 8-inch baking pan) and add a tablespoon of breadcrumbs, spreading it and making it adhere well to the edges, so nothing sticks. Spread half the mixture leveling it with a spatula; place the slices of provolone cheese in the center and finish by adding the other half of the potato mixture. Top with some breadcrumbs and finally a drizzle of olive oil.

  • Cook in air fryer at 340°F for 20 minutes, or in the oven at 355°F for 30-40 minutes or until a delicious crust forms on the surface.

    Plate the potato gateau while still hot or warm. Enjoy your meal!

✔ You can also add other cold cuts; it is indeed a “fridge-emptying” recipe.
