Baked Salmon Glazed with Honey, Spices, and Herbs

Ready for a new salmon recipe? Today I present to you baked salmon glazed with honey, spices, and herbs! I prepared this dish three times before presenting you with the recipe, much to my boyfriend’s delight, I might add. The recipe required careful balancing, given the sweetness of the honey, the presence of spices, and herbs. Today I’m truly satisfied with the result, so much so that I’m presenting you with the recipe and the video recipe!

Easy and quick to prepare, the honey-glazed salmon is a perfect main course all year round. Thawed salmon is quite affordable and easily available at the supermarket, at the fish counter. You just need to remember to place the fillets in the fridge the night before preparing the recipe you will read below, so it can thaw gradually. Please remember, this step is important for our health because, by doing so, we avoid temperature fluctuations and the creation of any bacteria.

Over the years, I have offered you many salmon recipes, which I personally love. From smoked salmon already cut and packaged to frozen salmon fillets from the freezer section. A versatile ingredient and easy to prepare. Here below I leave you my favorites that I love to prepare for dinners with friends or my family. Each link is clickable and will take you directly to the recipe you choose to read.

Among these, I recommend the salmon with pistachio crust, which I prepare every year for Christmas Eve dinner, and the pasta with salmon and sun-dried tomatoes. Ingredients for the baked salmon glazed with honey, spices, and herbs recipe

  • 1.1 lbs salmon
  • 3 tsps acacia honey
  • to taste dried parsley
  • to taste marjoram (dried)
  • to taste dried oregano
  • to taste thyme (dried)
  • 1 pinch curry
  • 1 pinch tuna bottarga
  • 1 pinch smoked paprika
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • Few grains pink pepper

Each time I served this recipe with a mix of crunchy salad dressed with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of salt, so as not to weigh down the guests. But if you like, you can serve this honey-glazed salmon fillet with oven-baked potatoes, as the oven will already be warm from cooking the fish. Here is my recipe for oven-baked potatoes with rosemary, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. An infallible recipe!

Tools for preparing baked salmon glazed with honey

  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Brush
  • 1 Small bowl
  • 1 Oven

Steps for the baked salmon recipe with honey glaze

  • As I mentioned, it is a simple and quick recipe to follow. Remember to thaw the salmon fillets in time. I will now explain what to do. The first thing I do is preheat the oven in static mode to 356 degrees, so it will be well-heated when I go to bake the salmon with honey.

Then I take a small bowl and pour into it all the herbs I have chosen, in this case, all dried for convenience. So: parsley, marjoram, thyme, rosemary, and oregano. Don’t worry, if one of these herbs does not appeal to you, do not use it. Then I added a pinch of curry and paprika. Again, if you do not like them, do not use them. Always choose ingredients you know and like to avoid wasting food unnecessarily.

With a teaspoon, I mixed the herbs and set them aside. I placed a baking dish on the work surface and lined the bottom with a slightly dampened parchment paper. I took the salmon fillets from the refrigerator and placed them in the baking dish.

  • With a cooking brush, I glazed the surface of the salmon with acacia honey. Without exaggerating, it should be a decisive brushstroke on the surface and the edges. Then I sprinkled it all with the herbs and spices I had prepared.

As the last ingredient, I added a few grains of pink pepper. I sprinkled with salt and pepper. Then I baked the salmon fillets, letting them cook for about 30 minutes. I did not add extra virgin olive oil, given the presence of acacia honey. If you want to add it, you could drizzle a bit of oil on the salmon just before serving.

As for cooking time, I obviously base it on the size of my salmon fillets. If yours, even just visually, are larger than mine, you will need to extend the baking time.

I prepared a mix of crunchy salad, dressed with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and some salt, so that once the salmon was ready, I could accompany the dish in the simplest and quickest way possible.

Tips and variations of the recipe:

Tips: as mentioned, it is essential to thaw the salmon fillets in time before proceeding with the preparation of the oven-baked honey and spice-glazed salmon. As emphasized, if any herb or spice does not appeal to you, change it. In cooking, as in many other areas of life, it is essential to follow your own tastes and, if these do not match yours, change ingredients to avoid mistakes.

Variations: you can, of course, use fresh salmon fillets. Make sure to bone them well, please. You can also use wild salmon fillets, which are less pink in color but with a firmer texture. If you don’t have acacia honey, but you have another type of honey in the pantry, it will be perfectly fine. There is no need to buy new honey if you are not sure you will like it.
