Baked Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Here’s the recipe for baked stuffed cabbage rolls with sausage, truly delicious, we ate them all!!! We didn’t think they could be so good, honestly speaking because we are not crazy about cabbage, but we had to change our minds. We devoured them, and now they are among our favorite January dishes! You can also prepare rich mashed potatoes with my recipe.

stuffed cabbage rolls
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Inexpensive
  • Rest time: 10 Minutes
  • Preparation time: 30 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients for 4 stuffed cabbage rolls:

  • 14 oz Cabbage
  • 2 Sausage
  • 2 Cheese slices
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Black pepper
  • 1 coffee cup White wine
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Tools

  • Stove
  • Oven
  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Colander
  • 1 Kitchen twine
  • Toothpicks
  • 1 Baking tray
  • 1 Parchment paper

Preparation for stuffed cabbage rolls:

  • To prepare the baked stuffed cabbage rolls with sausage, start by boiling enough salted water to blanch the cabbage; it should become soft but not break apart. Once blanched, let it cool at room temperature in a colander or, to speed up the preparation, you can cool the cabbage in a bowl with cold running water, being careful not to break it. Then preheat the oven in static mode to 356°F. Now take the sausages and cheese slices and start stuffing the cabbage rolls. Lay the cabbage on a wooden surface, place the cheese slice and sausage, and roll gently, securing everything with a toothpick in the center and kitchen twine from side to side.

  • Take a baking dish and line it with parchment paper, this way you’ll need less oil and your rolls won’t stick; place them, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and finally drizzle with olive oil and the small cup of white wine. Bake for about 20 minutes. They will become soft inside, the sausage will have time to cook, and the cheese slice will melt, blending all the ingredients. You’ll taste the flavor. Not the usual side dish of only cabbage, or it could be an excellent main dish, as in my case.

    Enjoy your meal!!!

Tip:

If you want, you can serve them with a rich mashed potatoes like I did or accompany them with a potato salad with yogurt that’s really delicious.
