The recipe for Carrot Sticks with Puff Pastry must have come from some supermarket magazine where I usually shop because I searched on Google and couldn’t find it. At most, there was talk of sticks or skewers, but I clearly remember that these were not the original recipe names. The photos you see I took this morning after testing and, especially, enjoying these carrot sticks for the third time.

Preparation of Carrot Sticks with Puff Pastry
Have you seen the list of ingredients? Really short so you’ll immediately understand that the recipe is really easy. The first thing I recommend doing is preheating the oven to 320°F maximum 356°F with fan mode.
Now let’s take a work surface and with a peeler remove the outer part of the two carrots. Once this step is done, we can cut the carrots into strips not too thin. Keep in mind that for each medium-large carrot, you should get about 4 strips.
Unroll the puff pastry and also cut it into strips not too thin as they will be used to wrap the carrots.
Use the two photos to understand the size of both the puff pastry and the carrots.
Now we’re going to wrap the puff pastry spirally around the carrot stick, applying slight pressure to adhere the pastry.
Lay the carrot sticks with puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Break the egg and keep only the yolk, obviously if we need to prepare a larger quantity of sticks we can use the whole egg.
Add a pinch of salt and pepper and beat lightly with a fork. At this point, with a kitchen brush, we’ll moisten the surface of the carrot sticks with the egg.
After that, sprinkle with the seeds you have available; in my case, they were poppy seeds, and bake for about 10 minutes.
Carrot sticks with puff pastry should never be turned during cooking.
You’ll know they’re cooked when the pastry is nicely golden.
Enjoy your meal!!!
Variations:
If you want, you can prepare these sticks with puff pastry not only with carrots but also with: fennel, zucchini, and if you like, cucumber. Always be careful not to cut the vegetables and the puff pastry too thinly, otherwise during cooking they may either become soft or burn.
Additional tip:
My friend Isa with the leftover puff pastry made some mini pizzas with tomato sauce and two pieces of mozzarella, a sprinkle of oregano, and baked them for about ten minutes. She thus created another little snack to complete the tasty appetizer I served during yesterday’s Instagram live “Add an appetizer, there’s an extra blogger”. Yesterday, Francesca from the blog Fragustoepassione joined me in the live.
