Ingredients for Mint Panna Cotta

  • 1 cup cup fresh liquid cream (from the fridge section)
  • 1 cup cup milk (in my case skimmed, both whole and partially skimmed are fine)
  • 2 tsp tsp gelatin sheets (or food gelatin)
  • 1/3 cup cup powdered sugar (preferably not vanilla-flavored)
  • to taste mint syrup (amount by preference, depends on how much you like mint)
  • to taste Nutella® (amount by preference as well)

Make sure the cream is very cold from the fridge as well as the milk.

Recipe Tools

  • 2 Bowls
  • 1 Hand whisk
  • 6 Small bowls
  • 1 Small pan
  • 1 Ladle
  • 1 Stovetop
  • 1 Scale
  • 1 Refrigerator

Before starting, I remind you to soak the gelatin sheets for at least 10 minutes in a small bowl with cold water. For the time in the refrigerator for the mint panna cotta, I indicated two hours, which is the minimum rest time. However, I advise extending this time for better panna cotta consistency when tasting.

Steps for Mint Panna Cotta Recipe that melts in your mouth

  • We start by soaking the gelatin sheets, or food gelatin, in cold water for at least 10 minutes. Then we take a small pan and heat the cream with the sugar after mixing well with a hand whisk to blend and dissolve the two ingredients.

We mix the milk with the mint syrup in a small bowl, adjusting the doses, tasting it before it becomes too flavored with mint. As indicated in the ingredients list, the mint syrup is to taste; I added a lot, and some told me it still wasn’t very noticeable, while for me, it was just the right flavor intensity. It depends on personal taste, in short.

Shortly before the cream comes to a boil, remove from the heat and add directly to the pan, stirring with the hand whisk, the gelatin sheets to dissolve them. Then pour in the milk where we dissolved the mint.

Mix everything so that the ingredients blend well. Now take mini cups, small bowls, or small dishes, perhaps ceramic ones, with which we can then serve our dessert.

  • Pour our Smurf-colored liquid into the molds we have chosen, using a large ladle. With these doses, you will be able to make between 6 and 10 molds. It obviously depends on the size of the mold you have chosen, as you can see from the video recipe and the photos, I chose tall, narrow, white ceramic ramekins. So four small bowls and one small oval dish.

Place the panna cotta in the refrigerator to rest for at least two hours. Better if you can keep it even longer. Before serving our dessert, remember to take the bowls out of the refrigerator about ten minutes earlier, decorate with hazelnut cream or another cream of your choice. You can also add hazelnut, almond, or pistachio crumbles as a final decoration of this recipe.

Simple, quick, and fresh, this summer dessert, and above all, we didn’t turn on the oven! I just have to wish you bon appétit and remind you that I wait for you every day here live from my kitchen with many easy, quick, and delicious recipes like this one! Storage of Mint Panna Cotta

You can store the panna cotta with chocolate and mint in the refrigerator for two or three days, but cover the surface of the molds you have used. This way, with aluminum foil, we will be sure that other refrigerator odors do not affect the quality and taste of our dessert. And especially that no unpleasant skin forms on its surface.

Tips

As mentioned, I remind you to respect the rest times of the gelatin sheets to soften them before working with them for this recipe.

Another important timing is the rest time in the refrigerator, from two hours onwards, never less. Please keep this in mind.

Another time not to be underestimated is the resting time outside the refrigerator of the mint and chocolate panna cotta before being served and then enjoyed. Many underestimate this step, but it is also important to achieve the melt-in-your-mouth texture we love about panna cotta.

Our dessert should indeed rest at room temperature for about ten minutes before being served. This is a step that many do not do, especially when we order panna cotta at a restaurant and get a sticky gelatin rather than a dessert as soft as a cloud. So, if you have dinner guests or want to enjoy a sweet treat on the couch in front of your favorite Netflix series, remember to take our small dessert out of the refrigerator in time.
