I love mashed potatoes, indeed if I could, I would eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so I become a barrel of rolling potatoes!!! I think my recipe is special because not all recipes include nutmeg and vegetable broth among the ingredients, I believe many of you make it without, so I’m here to show you my recipe.
On the blog, you will also find the recipe for Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes, a unique and spectacular dish, this meatloaf with a filling of mashed potatoes amazes guests and almost becomes addictive. Slice after slice, it will win you all over.

Ingredients for Rich Mashed Potatoes
- 5 Potatoes (medium-large)
- 2 oz Butter
- 2 ladles Vegetable broth
- 2 cups Milk
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Black pepper
- 1 pinch Nutmeg
- 3.5 oz Cooked ham (cut into cubes, often use herb-flavored cooked ham)
- 3.5 oz Cheese (you can choose: Belpaese, Emmental, or smoked scamorza)
Tools
- Stove
- Pot
- 1 Cutting board
- 1 Knife
- 1 Glass
- 1 Wooden spoon
Preparation
The first thing to do is peel and wash the potatoes, cut them into medium-large pieces, and boil them in plenty of salted water for about 30 – 35 minutes. Once this time has passed, we will drain them well. Now take a pot with nice high edges, pour in the two ladles of broth in which we let the butter melt, then add the potatoes and with the help of a fork start to mash them into a smooth and lump-free mixture. To help us in this step, we will add the glass of milk and continue to mix, obviously only add the second glass if necessary.
Oh, I almost forgot, all this on low heat. If necessary, adjust the salt, add pepper, and a good sprinkle of nutmeg. If you want to make it a rich mashed potato, as I often do, you can let your imagination run wild with any ingredients.
Enjoy your meal!!!

Variations:
In this recipe, I added diced cooked ham and pieces of Bel Paese. Of course, you can add whatever you want, sometimes if I have smoked bacon, I add it, or if I have pieces of vegetables, maybe carrots or zucchini, I add them just before finishing cooking.
