Stars with Sausage and Mushrooms

I thought of the Stars with Sausage and Mushrooms recipe while walking home after buying a lot of Christmas gifts. It was around 12, and I had stopped by the stationery store to get these little star-shaped paper molds, two small trees to create some sweets, and wrapping paper.
As I walked through the streets of my town, Porto San Giorgio, I started to wonder: “what recipes to propose!” and there it was, the unmistakable smell, the smell you sense from childhood when everyone thinks of the barbecue with a nice steak while the kids fight over sausages.
Can’t you also smell the aroma of sautéed vegetables, roasted meat, the scent of roast, and all those flavors that during the Christmas Holidays mix together? If you don’t smell these aromas, get out of your cars, walk along the side paths of your towns or cities, and you’ll always find a smell that will remind you of home.
Speaking about the Stars with Sausage and Mushrooms, I can tell you it’s a really simple recipe to make; the preparation takes about twenty minutes and another 25 minutes for cooking. I can tell you that in about 50 minutes you’ll have either a special appetizer to serve with your guests or your family, or a really rich and visually appealing second course.

My cousin Andrea, who came by to greet me yesterday, commented by saying: “but smell how fragrant these stars are!” and I literally beamed. I must admit though that they puffed up a bit too much on the surface, I had imagined them lower, so the following recipe is with less flour than mine, 50 grams less, which will surely make a difference.

  • 3/4 cup Manitoba flour
  • 1/2 cup milk kefir (or a jar of plain yogurt)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 sausages

  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.7 oz white onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil

Tools for Three Stars with Mushrooms and Sausage:

if you choose to propose this recipe with star-shaped molds you can find them in stationery stores or buy them by clicking here

  • 3 Molds
  • Oven
  • Electric Whisk
  • Pan
  • Stove
  • 1 Bowl

Preparation of Three Stars with Sausage and Mushrooms:

  • The first thing to do to prepare the three stars is to brown the sausage with the mushrooms in a pan.

Take a pan and sauté the onion with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Once the onion is softened, add chunks of sausage without the skin.

  • Drain the mushrooms from their jar oil and add them to the pan with the sausage. Let cook for about twenty minutes.

Meanwhile, in a bowl, work with the electric whisks the two eggs with a pinch of salt and the drained kefir, as in my case, or a 125 g jar of plain yogurt.

  • Gradually add the two types of flour with the help of a spoon. As the last ingredient, we will add the packet of baking powder, I used the one for sweets.

  • Pour the mixture into the star-shaped molds, I greased them with a cooking brush with a drizzle of seed oil to ensure that the mixture doesn’t stick to the paper edges.

Fill the molds 2/3 full and use a spoon to place the sausage and mushroom pieces on top.

  • Bake at 350°F with a static mode already at temperature for about 25 – 30 minutes, always do the toothpick test before turning off the oven.

Serve the Stars with Sausage and Mushrooms nice and hot, their aroma would have already captivated you during cooking, and now it’s the taste that must play its final battle.

    Enjoy your meal!!!

Notes:

If you cut the sausage into even smaller pieces than mine, consider the cooking times because if you let it brown too much in the pan, you risk it hardening too much in the oven and losing the right consistency. If you feel like it, you can add 20 to a maximum of 30 grams of grated parmesan, however, removing the 10 grams from the two types of flour.
