Truffles with Chocolate Dove Cake

The Truffles with Chocolate Dove Cake and other sprinkles are my first recycling recipe for a packaged product that characterizes a certain period, in this case, Easter.
The recipe, however, is also great for recycling Pandoro and Panettone, thus for the Christmas period.
I wanted to try them for two reasons: the first I just revealed to you, I had no recipe that included a product recycling; the second reason is that they are so good, one leads to another.


So yesterday afternoon, live with you from the fan page on Facebook, I prepared them, and I would say finally too!

Note: I prepared this recipe again today, March 14, 2024, practically two years after the lockdown, therefore from the first time I tested this recycling dessert.
I must admit they turned out even better, I don’t know if you remember the old photograph.

Ingredients for about 15 – 20 Truffles with Chocolate Dove Cake

  • 14.11 oz Dove Cake (about)
  • 2 tbsp Mascarpone
  • to taste Sweetened cocoa powder (or unsweetened)
  • to taste Pistachio sprinkles
  • to taste Almond sprinkles
  • to taste Coconut flour

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Plate
  • 4 Small bowls
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Spoon

Recipe for Truffles with Chocolate Dove Cake:

Did you see the list of ingredients? Practically recycling Dove Cake, mascarpone, and other ingredients you surely have in your pantry. Therefore, an easy, quick, and delicious recipe, especially without cooking.

  • Let’s start this preparation by cutting about 14 oz of Dove Cake, in my case with candied fruits and raisins.

    Crumble the Dove Cake into a bowl into not too small pieces.

    Then add the two tablespoons of mascarpone and use the spoon to help mix the dough. Then knead quickly with your hands until you get a sticky dough.

    If necessary, to make the Dove Cake stickier, add a little more mascarpone.

  • Now let’s create our truffles or pralines with Dove Cake. We have already arranged the small bowls with pistachio sprinkles, almond sprinkles, cocoa, and coconut flour in front of us.

    Roll each Dove Cake praline in the corresponding sprinkles. I prepared 16 pralines, 4 for each type.

    Now we should place all the truffles with Dove Cake on a small plate, cover them with food wrap, and place them in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

    Before enjoying them, I took them out of the fridge, leaving them at room temperature, for about 10 minutes.

    You’ll see that one bite leads to another, and I had a hard time not eating them last night on the couch, since I’m on a diet!

Storage:

You can store the Truffles with Chocolate Dove Cake in the refrigerator for only two days. Therefore, consider the quantities when preparing them. You can always make them again with no effort and in just a few minutes.

Variants:

The variants can be the following or I will indicate some to you: the cocoa can be either sweetened or unsweetened; you can use hazelnut sprinkles or almond sprinkles or other types of sprinkles instead of cocoa. The coconut flour is also welcome. Where you still have some Easter eggs, you could melt the chocolate and pour it over the Truffles with Chocolate Dove Cake to make them even more delicious small pralines. In short, any variant is fine as well as the various ingredients you have in the pantry.
