Baked donuts with cinnamon and divine maple syrup glaze
Donuts (Doughnut or Donut) are delicious American rings covered with glaze or colorful sprinkles. These extra soft American fritters melt in the mouth and can be fried or baked.
With my recipe, you will prepare wonderful cinnamon-spiced donuts, covered in a divine maple syrup and butter glaze (glaze so good you need to be careful not to finish it before glazing all the donuts) and baked, resulting in irresistible non-fried donuts.
These donuts are a comfort food for any moment, ideal for making for parties and birthdays all year round, especially during Carnival with colorful glaze and sprinkles or at Valentine’s Day with red-colored glaze.

Steps for Baked Donuts with Cinnamon
First, make the glaze.
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and maple syrup together, stirring occasionally; once the butter has melted, remove from heat and whisk in the sifted powdered sugar (it’s important to sift the powdered sugar, as the glaze should be smooth and creamy.Set the glaze aside and let it cool and thicken.
Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground cloves, and salt in a bowl.
In another bowl, beat the egg, brown sugar, milk, and yogurt until smooth. Add the melted butter and vanilla, mixing until well combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix to obtain a very thick batter.

In another bowl, beat the egg, brown sugar, milk, and yogurt until smooth. Add the melted butter and vanilla, mixing until well combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix (I use electric mixers for about 8 minutes) to obtain a very thick batter.
Pour the batter into a donut mold (using a piping bag if possible) well-buttered (no flour) filling the cavities 3/4 full, allowing space for the rise the donuts will have during baking.
With these quantities, I obtained 6 donuts.
Bake at 350°F for about 9 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
Let cool for about two minutes.
To glaze the donuts, hold the donut and dip halfway into the glaze, dip each donut twice. Place the donuts on a rack to let the glaze drip off.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)
What is the difference between donuts and ring cakes?
Donuts are American fried (or baked) rings, later coated with a colored sugar glaze.
Why are they called Donuts?
The name comes from dough-nut, where dough means “dough”, while nut here is used with the original meaning of “small sweet or cookie”. The meaning is therefore that of “small kneaded sweet”.
The true origins of donuts?
Although Americans are proud of their donuts, the origin of ring cakes is attributed to the Dutch. As early as the mid-19th century in Holland, there was what can be considered the ancestor of donuts, a local sweet called olykoek: small fritters fried in pig fat. Dutch immigrants brought this sweet to America
