Preparation of Cinnamon French Toast
Preheat the oven to 347°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Melt the butter in the microwave or using a bain-marie (be careful, the water of the bain-marie should NOT boil).
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together and set aside.
In another medium-sized bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla, and salt with a hand whisk.
Cut each slice of bread into three strips (stacking 4 slices at a time to cut them together).
Quickly dip each strip in the egg mixture, removing the excess.
Transfer the dipped slices onto the prepared baking tray, leaving some space between them.
Brush the surface of the bread slices with melted butter and then sprinkle them with half of the cinnamon sugar mixture and bake in the preheated oven for about 13 minutes.
Remove the sticks from the oven, flip them over, brush again with melted butter, and evenly coat the French toast with the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.
Bake again and continue to cook for about 13/18 minutes, until they are golden brown.
Let the French toast slices cool for a few minutes.
When serving, if you like, brush the French toast again with a little melted butter and serve them warm to dip into maple syrup, accompanied by fresh berries (optional).
Notes and Tips
These cinnamon French toasts are super convenient for breakfast, brunch, or a quick snack because they can be prepared in advance or frozen and then reheated in the microwave.
If you prefer, instead of maple syrup, you can also use acacia honey.
For a healthy breakfast, also try some toasted bread with this delicious “Apple Butter“.
