Original American Chocolate Brownies Recipe
There is nothing more chocolaty than chocolate brownies. I only smell the true aroma of chocolate when I make these American treats that are a mix between cake and cookies.
Usually, when I decide to try a recipe I have never tried before, I look at other recipes in various cookbooks, my own saved recipes and notes, or search the web until I find what I think is the best.
In this case, my choice fell on an American site, so this recipe is original, a guarantee of goodness and indulgence! And indeed, these brownies turned out exactly as they should: with the characteristic external crust and melting and moist inside.
This original American chocolate brownies recipe is unmissable, very easy to execute, and in no time you get an irresistible comfort food.

Ingredients for Original American Chocolate Brownies
- 5 oz Butter (quality)
- 1 1/4 cups Sugar
- 3/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder (or 3.5 oz quality dark chocolate)
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 2 Whole cold eggs
- 1 tbsp Vanilla extract
- 1 pinch Fine salt
- 1/3 cup Chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 cup Toasted and chopped walnuts (optional)
Tools
- Kitchen scale
- Bowls of various sizes
- Mixer electric Philips with 450W power
- Nonstick baking pan 8×8 inches
Preparation of Original American Chocolate Brownies
Proceed by melting the cocoa (or I chose to use 3.5 oz of 70% dark chocolate) with butter and sugar in a double boiler, remove from heat and add the 2 whole eggs (one at a time, please!) and the vanilla extract, beating with a whisk for about 5 minutes.
Then gradually add the sifted flour and salt, mixing with an electric mixer at high speed, continuing to work for a couple of minutes; the batter should be silky and increase in volume, creating a crust on the surface.
Finally, add the chocolate chips or chopped nuts (optional).Pour the mixture into an 8×8 inch baking pan (you’ll get about 16-20 brownies), line it with damp and squeezed parchment paper, and bake for about 30 minutes at 340°F.
You can prepare these chocolate brownies even the day before serving them; they will be even better.
If desired, you can accompany the chocolate brownies with whipped cream and/or chocolate sauce and/or maple syrup, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Shopping Tips!!!
I whipped the batter with the excellent Philips electric mixer with 5 speeds (+ turbo) and a powerful 450 W.
To cook the brownies, I recommend this very handy 20×20 cm nonstick baking pan.

How and for how long can you store brownies?
Brownies can be stored at room temperature for 3 or 4 days, wrapped in plastic wrap.
Brownies can also be frozen, always wrapped in plastic wrap, covered with a sheet of aluminum foil, and then placed in food bags.
