The puff pastry crowns are delicious treats filled with apricot jam and juicy sultanas, intertwined and sprinkled with pure powdered sugar.
They are a truly delightful treat of disarming simplicity, just three ingredients and 10 minutes to make. It’s truly a dessert that saves the sweet moment of the day or the arrival of unexpected guests. However, it is not a trivial dessert; it has a delicious and very refined taste. Maybe it’s because I love the taste of apricot jam together with puff pastry, it reminds me of German or Austrian pastries.
They are delightful as a dessert at the end of a meal, accompanied by coffee, but they also go perfectly with afternoon tea or the children’s afternoon snack and not only.

Ingredients for the puff pastry crowns
- 2 sheets puff pastry (rectangular)
- as needed apricot jam
- 1/3 cup sultanas
- as needed powdered sugar
Tools
- Cutter Pastry Wheel Cutter
Preparation of the puff pastry crowns
Unroll the puff pastry, leaving it on its paper.
On one of the sheets, evenly spread the surface with apricot jam. Also, distribute the sultanas and cover with the second sheet of puff pastry.
Press lightly with your hands.
With the help of the pastry wheel cutter, cut strips about 3/4 inch wide.
Roll them into a spiral and form a crown, gently placing it on the baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 347°F for about 15 minutes. The crowns should be golden but not too dark, otherwise, they tend to become too crunchy.
Let them cool down well and dust them with powdered sugar before serving.
Puff pastry crowns can be kept for two to three days at room temperature. I usually store them under a glass dome.
