The chocolate lava cake is a delicious single-serving dessert, characterized by a soft chocolate heart that flows out at the first cut, delivering a delicious intense flavor.
Making these cakes is simple; just a little attention is needed, and the resulting desserts will be truly a pleasant surprise for both adults and children.
The first time I ate one was at a restaurant.
I immediately thought of replicating it at home, but I thought it would be complicated.
In reality, to ensure a good result, you just need to respect the precise cooking times, but by observing the cakes during baking, you can understand when it’s time to remove them from the oven.
These can also be conveniently frozen, already organized in single-serving bowls in which we will bake them later, so at any time, we will have a dessert ready to bake and enjoy for a delicious snack or to offer to an unexpected guest.
In such a case, it will be sufficient to slightly extend the cooking times to obtain a delicious dessert as freshly made.

Ingredients
- 7 oz 50% dark chocolate
- 9 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs (fresh)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- to taste unsweetened cocoa powder
- to taste butter (for greasing)
- to taste powdered sugar
Tools
- Pots for bain-marie
- 1 Bowl
- Electric whisks
- 1 Chopping board
- 1 Knife kitchen
- 6 Bowls single-portion aluminum
- 1 Baking tray oven
Steps
To prepare the chocolate lava cakes, start by greasing six aluminum molds and dusting them with unsweetened cocoa powder.
Cut the chocolate into pieces and melt it in a bain-marie together with the butter.
The water in the pot below should not touch the bottom of the bowl containing the chocolate. Stir occasionally. Then, when the chocolate is melted and combined with the butter, let it cool a little.
Separately, beat the eggs and sugar with electric whisks until a frothy mixture is obtained.
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and the sifted flour, and mix with the whisks.
At this point, add the melted chocolate with butter and incorporate them into the mixture with the help of a spoon.
Fill the molds with the obtained batter up to half an inch below the edge.
Place the cakes you want to enjoy immediately on a baking tray, while the others can be conveniently frozen.
Bake for 14 minutes at 350 degrees in a preheated static oven, center level.
The first time you make them, it is important to observe how the baking progresses in the last minutes, as each oven has its characteristics, and therefore, to achieve the indicated result, it may take a few minutes more or less.
They should be removed from the oven when the edges appear more swollen, while the rest of the cake is still soft and thus also darker.
Turn the cake over onto the serving plate and dust with powdered sugar.
The chocolate lava cakes are now ready.
Serve immediately, otherwise they will continue to cook.
Storage
Consume the already baked cakes immediately. Freeze the others already organized in aluminum molds. For these, which will be baked from frozen, cooking times should be extended by a couple of minutes, so 16 minutes at 350 degrees instead of 14, respecting the same methods indicated in the recipe.
