Milk chocolate salami without added butter is a truly delicious dessert, ideally made with leftover Easter eggs and maybe with your kids’ help.
It doesn’t require any baking, just a few hours in the fridge to achieve this tasty dessert that looks just like a salami.
You can use the nuts you prefer, or simply those you have at home. You can choose to flavor it with liquor or skip this step entirely… in short, everyone can customize the creation starting from this simple yet versatile basic idea.
In any case, it will still be a delight for both adults and children.
It looks very nice presented at the table on a cutting board, then slicing it as the guests request, or serving it already partially portioned.
And for those who want to make it truly scenic, just wrap kitchen string all around the chocolate salami, and its appearance will get even closer to that of a regular salami.

Ingredients
- 9 oz milk chocolate
- 1 cup digestive biscuits
- 2 oz hazelnuts (chopped)
- 1 tsp liquor (rum)
- as needed unsweetened cocoa powder (or powdered sugar)
Tools
- 1 Pan non-stick
- 1 Blender
- Pots for melting in a bain-marie or microwave
- Parchment paper
- 1 Tray
Steps
Prepare the milk chocolate salami by starting with toasting the hazelnuts in a pan for a few minutes.
This operation should be done over high flame, always shaking the pan or turning the hazelnuts, so they do not burn.
Turn off the heat when the hazelnuts are as evenly golden as possible and emit the unmistakable aroma of toasted nuts.
At this point, place them on a cloth and, while still warm, rub them to remove the skin.
Once cleaned (even partially is fine), chop them with a knife or blender, leaving them as coarse or fine as you like.
Clearly, what’s described is only in case you don’t already have hazelnut granules.
Then crush the biscuits not too finely.
This operation can also be done in two different ways.
You can do it in a blender or by crushing them with a glass bottle or jar on a cloth.
Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie without letting the water touch the container holding it.
Combine the three ingredients and work them together.
If the chocolate salami is not intended for children, you can add a splash of your favorite liquor.
Even though at first it may seem that the ingredients do not bind too much, a rest in the fridge will settle everything.
Transfer the mixture onto parchment paper, shape it into a salami, closing the ends tightly, and then place it on a rigid tray.
When the salami is at room temperature, place it in the fridge for at least a couple of hours.
Then it can be sprinkled with unsweetened cocoa and sliced before serving.
If you want it to look like classic salami, it should be lightly sprinkled with powdered sugar and then wrapped all around with kitchen string.
The milk chocolate salami without added butter is ready.
Before slicing, it’s advisable to wait about ten minutes after taking it out of the fridge. This way, the slices will be more precise.
