The soft orange cake recipe without butter is really simple to make,
a soft cake that carries the fragrance of this precious citrus.

Moist just right, it is perfect to be enjoyed with a simple dusting of powdered sugar, but also to be filled.

You can enjoy it dipped in milk in the morning or as a snack, perhaps accompanied by a nice tea or coffee.

It’s been one of my favorite desserts for many years, a genuine treat I love to indulge in and happily prepare for my family.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 oranges
  • 3 eggs (medium)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil (sunflower)
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 packet vanillin

Tools

  • Electric whisk
  • Citrus juicer
  • Mold cake pan 9 inches in diameter
  • Sieve for flour

Preparation

  • Initially sift together the flour with the baking powder and set aside.

  • With the electric whisks, beat the egg whites in a bowl until stiff. Separately, mix the sugar with the yolks and grated orange zest.

  • Continuing to stir with the electric whisks, add the juice of the two strained oranges and the vegetable oil to the yolks.

  • Gradually incorporate the flour (sifted with the baking powder) and the vanilla.

  • Finally, working with a spatula at this point, gently fold in the egg whites with movements from bottom to top.

  • Pour the obtained mixture into a well-oiled and floured baking pan and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F, middle part, static function, for about 50 minutes.

  • Always check with a toothpick before removing from the oven.

  • Remove from the pan only after letting it cool for a while.

  • The soft orange cake without butter is now ready.

Welcome to my blog "lericettediminu". I am Carmen D'Angelo, a Sicilian with a great love for cooking. I particularly enjoy making desserts, where I can best express my personal inclination not only for taste but also for beauty. It was my mother, Enza, who passed her passion for cooking on to me, and I try to honor her teachings by always striving to improve and deepen my knowledge. I am not a professional in the field, but having cooked since I was a child and read extensively on the subject, I believe I have gained a certain experience through practice. I am a wife and a mother in love with her family, and I created this blog to virtually welcome anyone who wishes to join me within the walls of my kitchen, which to me is a true treasure trove of flavor and emotions.
