How to prepare Baked Figs with Gorgonzola, Walnuts, and Honey
Gently wash the figs and dry them. Make a cross incision on the surface with a sharp knife, without cutting all the way to the base.
Slightly open the figs and insert a piece of gorgonzola in the center.
Place the figs in a baking dish, add some thyme and rosemary leaves, drizzle with a bit of honey and olive oil, and bake in a preheated oven at 392°F for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and slightly golden. Alternatively, place the figs in the basket lined with perforated parchment paper and cook at 356°F for about 10-12 minutes.
Remove the figs from the oven and serve them immediately, still warm. For a tastier touch, spread the gorgonzola figs on slices of toasted bread and drizzle with a bit of raw honey.
Storage
Roasted figs are best when freshly made. If there are leftovers, you can store them in the fridge for up to 1 day in an airtight container and quickly reheat them in the oven or air fryer.
Tips
You can choose between sweet or spicy gorgonzola, depending on the intensity of flavor you prefer.
Add a few drops of balsamic vinegar for an even more aromatic contrast.
If you want to make the recipe richer, add some slices of prosciutto after cooking.
Variations
With other cheeses: instead of gorgonzola, you can use brie, taleggio, or creamy goat cheese.
With different nuts: try almonds, pistachios, or toasted hazelnuts instead of walnuts.
Tartine version: spread the hot figs directly on the bread and enrich with some gorgonzola flakes.
