It is preferable to consume the dalgona coffee without instant coffee immediately. You can prepare the coffee cream in advance by storing it in the fridge and then add it to the rest of the ingredients.

Of course, if you want to use instant coffee, add one tablespoon of hot water for each tablespoon of coffee.

You can choose the milk you prefer, with or without lactose, or even plant-based drinks like soy milk, oat milk, rice milk, coconut milk, to get a completely vegan dalgona coffee.

Since it is very sweet, you can add unsweetened coffee to the milk to balance the sweetness of the cream, or alternatively, you can sprinkle a little unsweetened cocoa powder.
