Chickpea Hummus is a classic sauce from Middle Eastern cuisine that’s easy to make, flavorful, and very versatile. A vegetarian recipe with very few ingredients that together create an extremely creamy sauce known and appreciated worldwide. The essential ingredients needed to make delicious homemade chickpea hummus are, of course, chickpeas, which we can cook ourselves or buy pre-cooked, to be blended with lemon juice, garlic, tahini, a sesame seed-based condiment, oil, and a bit of water if needed to achieve a smooth, velvety, and not too thick sauce. Less than 5 minutes in the blender or food processor and our chickpea-based sauce is ready!

A very simple and quick recipe that we can customize by adding the spices we prefer, such as cumin seeds, fennel seeds, coriander seeds, or sesame seeds.

We can serve it with pita bread for a tasty appetizer or aperitif, spread it on crostini, slices of bread, or bruschetta, fill sandwiches, tacos, or flatbreads, or use it as a sauce to accompany vegetables and salads, or even with grains like rice, quinoa, bulgur, or meat or fish dishes.
