Cookies with low-fat yogurt and dark chocolate chips are tender cookies that are easily prepared in a few minutes without the use of tools; you just need to mix them in a glass bowl. The recipe was prepared with 0% Greek yogurt to make this sweet snack even lighter, but you can also use classic whole plain yogurt.
With this recipe, you will get cookies ideal for breakfast because they soak easily in milk and tea, but they can also be enjoyed as a sweet light dessert. They contain very little fat, and the chocolate chips can be omitted or replaced with blended nuts.
The cooking is very quick, taking about 12 minutes, and you need to take them out of the oven while they’re still soft because they will dry as they cool.

Ingredients
The main ingredient in this recipe is yogurt, and we used Greek yogurt, but you can also use classic plain yogurt.
- 1 egg
- 3/8 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup 0% fat Greek yogurt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- to taste vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- 3 tbsp butter (soft)
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips
Tools
No special tools are needed; just a bowl to mix, a fork or hand whisk to stir, and your hands to create the balls.
- 1 Bowl Pyrex
- 1 Hand Whisk
Preparation
The preparation of cookies with yogurt and chocolate chips is simple and quick to make; you can prepare a great snack in less than 30 minutes.
Start the dough by placing the egg, sugar, and yogurt in the bowl. Mix the ingredients with the whisk until they become homogeneous.
Now add the flour in several batches, always mixing by hand, salt, vanilla extract, baking powder, and soft butter. Knead until you get a soft dough (keep it in the bowl because it’s a bit sticky). As a final step, add the chocolate chips and mix just to blend.
I tell you to mix just to blend because you will need to form the balls by hand, taking small pieces of dough and rolling them in the palms of your hands. This step will ensure that each ball is kneaded correctly. If the dough turns out too sticky, add a little more flour or keep your hands slightly greased. But normally, it turns out perfect by following the indicated doses.
As you form the balls, place them on the baking sheet covered with parchment paper. We used two sheets, but you can also place them closer together as they will grow a little during baking but not too much. Once you’ve formed all the balls, bake them in a pre-heated oven at 356°F for about 12 minutes; they should be slightly golden but not too much, and it’s normal if they feel soft to the touch, as they will dry a bit as they cool.
NOTES
These tender light cookies are ideal as a snack even for those following a diet, and they keep well for days at room temperature if stored in classic cookie jars with a lid.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I substitute the dark chocolate chips?
You can easily replace them with white chocolate chips or blended nuts, and they will remain just as delicious but light.
Can the yogurt be fruit-flavored?
You might use fruit-flavored yogurt, but I recommend fruit puree to knead well and avoid fruit pieces cracking the balls during baking.
