Cucumber salad: the cucumber salad that conquers the web

If you want to have fun in the kitchen with a fresh and original dish, try this Cucumber Salad, the famous cucumber salad that has conquered the web! I discovered it online, intrigued by its simple yet appetizing look, and after trying it… we fell in love with it! Even my husband loved it and said it reminds him a lot of Northern European flavors.
It’s a very quick salad to prepare, complete and perfect as a summer one-dish meal, especially if accompanied with good bread. You can assemble it directly in the container where you’ll consume it: it transports easily, so it’s ideal for lunch breaks or to take to the beach.

Ingredients

  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 can tuna in oil
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 dash soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese

Tools

  • 1 Mandoline
  • 1 Bowl

Instructions

  • The preparation is really easy, and you can also follow it in the video. Meanwhile, let’s start with the cucumber: cut off the two ends and rub them against the cucumber itself to remove some of the bitter taste. Wash it well and slice it thinly directly into the bowl where you’ll dress everything. Add the chopped onion, the tuna with all the oil from the can, a dash of soy sauce, and two tablespoons of cream cheese. Mix well… and our salad is ready to be enjoyed!

NOTES

This salad is perfect when it’s hot or you’re short on time: fresh, quick, and super tasty. If you don’t like the strong taste of onion, you can soak it in cold water for a few minutes before using it, so it will be milder. The cream cheese makes it creamy, but if you prefer, you can also use Greek yogurt. For an extra touch, you can add some sesame seeds or a handful of corn.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)

  • Can I prepare the salad in advance?

Yes, you can prepare it a few hours in advance and keep it in the fridge; in fact, this way the flavors blend better. However, I recommend adding the cream cheese and soy sauce just before serving, so it stays fresher and creamier.
