Eggless Chocolate Salami

Chocolate salami is a no-bake chocolate dessert that resembles a salami in shape and texture, thanks to its mixture of crushed biscuits with butter and cocoa. I find the eggless version even more suitable for the summer season.

A dessert made with a few high-quality ingredients that, when combined, offer a unique flavor for an intense moment of sweetness. There are various versions of chocolate salami; this one is ideal for children because it contains no liquor or coffee.

The intense flavor of bitter cocoa pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the biscuits; one piece leads to another, and it will be difficult to stop eating it. After resting for at least two hours in the fridge, it is ready to be consumed. It is very convenient to bring as a snack to work or school because it keeps well at room temperature, but my advice during the summer season is to keep it in the fridge for a tasty and fresh sweet break.

For chocolate lovers, I also recommend other recipes for a wholesome yet varied diet.

Ingredients

  • 7 oz dry biscuits
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (leveled)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (leveled)

Tools

  • 1 Food Processor
  • 1 Parchment Paper
  • 1 Plate
  • 1 Kitchen Twine

Preparation

  • Prepare all the ingredients described in the recipe, including the melted butter, so it will be less warm when used. Pour the biscuits into the blender and blend them coarsely. The pieces should remain quite irregular and it should not become a flour because when slicing, it’s nice to find big pieces of biscuit that remind of salami’s texture.

  • After chopping the biscuits, place them in a large bowl and add sugar, cocoa, melted butter, and finally milk. The 2 tablespoons of milk will be sufficient because the mixture should be soft and moist but not liquid; however, if your mixture is too compact, you can add more milk.

  • Once the mixture is ready, place it on a sheet of parchment paper and with the help of a spatula and then your hands, shape the salami by closing the ends tightly, like a candy, to form it well. Let the salami rest in the fridge for a couple of hours before consuming.

  • To make the salami more scenic and similar to the real one, you can cover the surface with the powders indicated for decoration. In a small bowl, combine cocoa and powdered sugar and mix them well with a fork. If you want an even more precise job, you can sift the two powders together.
Pour this mix over the salami that was resting in the fridge and, using the same parchment paper, cover the entire surface of the salami with the cocoa and sugar mixture.

NOTES

Chocolate salami is truly a fantastic dessert for its strong chocolate flavor, ease of preparation, and lack of baking, making it ideal for the summer season. If, after covering it with the cocoa and powdered sugar mix, you want to make it even more realistic and scenic, perhaps to present it to friends, tie it with kitchen twine like a real salami.
