Air Fryer Salmon Balls

Air Fryer Salmon Balls, a light, healthy, and flavorful second course, perfect for the whole family.

A quick and easy recipe, ready in just over 20 minutes, ideal when you want something good but want to avoid traditional frying. In this version, I used fresh salmon, combined with a few simple and genuine ingredients. The result? Soft balls inside and slightly crispy outside, cooked to perfection with just the hot air from the air fryer.

I often prepare them as a second course accompanied by a side of seasonal vegetables or a simple salad, but they are also perfect as finger food for a buffet or a home aperitif. Just make them smaller and serve them with a light sauce, like yogurt mayonnaise or avocado cream. They are lactose-free and lend themselves to different variations.

The air fryer has become an indispensable ally in the kitchen: it allows for light and crispy cooking with very little oil, saving time and mess. And these air fryer salmon balls are proof that you can eat well with simplicity, without sacrificing taste.

If you too love salmon and are looking for new ideas to cook it lightly, these balls are for you.

At the end of the recipe, in the FAQ section, I answered some questions about this preparation. If you have other doubts or curiosities, leave a comment or use the contact form at the end of the page.

  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Recipe of the Salmon Balls

  • Start preparing the salmon balls in the air fryer by finely chopping the salmon either in a food processor for a minute or with a knife.

  • Add salt and black pepper to the salmon.
    Continue with chopped parsley.
Beat a medium-sized egg and add it to the rest of the ingredients.
Mix with a spoon until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.

  • Now dry the mixture with breadcrumbs: add a little at a time, you may not need the entire indicated amount.

  • Mix after each addition.
You need to obtain a dry but still soft mixture.

  • Shape the balls by working a spoonful of mixture between your hands.
If you want them all the same size, you can use an ice cream scooper.

  • Place the balls in the air fryer basket.
Cook the salmon balls at 356°F for 10-12 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking.
Serve the air fryer salmon balls immediately.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Can the balls be prepared in advance?

Absolutely yes! You can form the balls and store them raw in the refrigerator for a few hours covered with plastic wrap. Alternatively, you can also cook them in advance and reheat them in the air fryer at 320°F for 3-4 minutes.

  • Can I freeze the salmon balls?

Yes, you can freeze them either raw or cooked. I recommend placing them on a tray spaced apart, freezing them, and then transferring them to a food bag. They cook well in the air fryer even from frozen: just increase the cooking time by a few minutes.

  • What can I serve them with?

They are perfect with fresh salads, oven-baked potatoes (perhaps also in the air fryer!) or grilled vegetables. Also great with a yogurt sauce or avocado cream.
