Recipe for Chickpeas cooked in Instant Pot without soaking

  • Start preparing the chickpeas cooked in the Instant Pot without soaking by weighing the chickpeas in a measuring jug; what matters here is their volume.

  • The ratio is 1:3, so use the measuring jug to measure 3 parts water.
In my case the chickpeas had a volume of about 1 1/4 cups (300 ml), so I measured 3 3/4 cups (900 ml) of water.

  • Pour both the chickpeas and the water into the Instant Pot.
Seal the lid and close the valve.
Set the electric pressure cooker to Pressure Cook; if you don’t want to keep the chickpeas warm, deselect the Keep Warm option.
Then set the cooking time to 40 minutes.

  • At the end of cooking I keep the chickpeas in the Instant Pot for another 15 minutes, but this is optional.
Open the valve carefully to avoid burns and remove the lid.
Drain the chickpeas and transfer them to a bowl.
The chickpeas cooked in the Instant Pot without soaking are ready to be used in your favorite recipes.
