Clementine Scones Recipe
Begin making the clementine scones by placing the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and zest of one untreated clementine into the food processor bowl.
Continue by adding the butter in pieces.
Blend everything with short and quick pulses (I used the PULSE function) until you obtain a sandy mixture. At this point, also add the milk.
Blend again until the dough takes consistency.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured board.
Shape it into a circle and divide it into 8 parts with the help of a dough scraper.Transfer the wedges to a baking tray lined with parchment paper, trying to space them slightly.
Bake the scones in a preheated static oven at 375°F for 20-25 minutes, they should slightly brown on the surface.
Let them cool completely. In the meantime, prepare the glaze by placing the powdered sugar and a tablespoon of clementine juice in a bowl.
Mix with whisks or a spoon until you get a smooth and lump-free mixture; the consistency should not be too thick, adjust as needed by adding more juice or sugar.
Spread the glaze over the cold scones and let it dry.
Serve the clementine scones with a steaming tea.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Can scones be prepared in advance?
Yes, you can prepare the dough, shape the scones and store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. Alternatively, you can freeze them raw and bake them directly from the freezer, slightly increasing the baking time.
How can I store clementine scones?
Once baked, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days.
Can I substitute the butter?
You can use vegetable margarine or solid coconut oil as an alternative to butter, but the flavor and consistency will be slightly different.
Is the glaze mandatory?
No, the scones are delicious even without glaze. However, the clementine juice glaze adds a touch of sweetness and extra citrus aroma.
Can I add other ingredients?
Certainly! Try incorporating chocolate chips, dried fruit, or a pinch of spices like cinnamon or ginger to customize your scones.
