FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Can I replace the smoked paprika?

Sure, you can use cumin, coriander, or a pinch of cinnamon.

  • I don’t like the taste of raw garlic, how can I fix it?

For a sweeter, less pungent flavor, you can roast the garlic along with the carrots.

  • What can I add to my hummus?

Fresh grated ginger to add while blending for a spicy, fresh note, chili powder, or harissa for a spicy and flavorful version, or toasted walnuts or almonds for an extra level of crunchiness and flavor.

  • How long does it last?

Roasted carrot hummus can be stored in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. To keep it fresh, store it in an airtight container to prevent it from absorbing odors from other foods in the fridge. Before sealing the container, you can smooth the surface of the hummus and pour a thin layer of olive oil. This helps prevent oxidation and keeps the hummus fresh longer. If the hummus has thickened slightly or separated, just mix it well before consuming.
You can freeze roasted carrot hummus, although the texture might change slightly after thawing. Freezing can cause slight separation or a change in texture, especially due to the tahini. However, with good mixing, the hummus should return almost to its original consistency.

I also made Carrot and Lentil Cream with the carrots.
