Toasted bread with camembert, prosciutto, and balsamic onions: a creamy, flavorful, and quick-to-prepare starter, perfect for a sophisticated dinner or an elegant appetizer.
If you’re looking for a simple yet gourmet appetizer, toasted bread with camembert, prosciutto, and balsamic onions is the perfect choice. This mix of flavors combines the creaminess of camembert with the delicacy and savoriness of prosciutto, while the caramelized onions with balsamic glaze add a sweet and slightly tangy note that completes the dish. The result is a balanced, delicious appetizer, ready in just a few minutes.
The recipe is ideal for both an informal appetizer and for enriching a dinner with friends or family. You only need a few quality ingredients, like a fragrant bread to toast, soft camembert, and good quality prosciutto, and you’re set. The golden onions, slightly sautéed with a drizzle of oil and deglazed with balsamic glaze, give the dish an inviting aroma and unique flavor, making every bite irresistible.
To finish, you can add a sprinkle of freshly chopped parsley, which not only adds color but also a note of freshness to the mix. It’s a versatile recipe that can also accommodate slight variations: for example, you can choose whole grain or multigrain bread for a more rustic flavor, or add a drizzle of honey to the glaze to enhance its sweet taste.
In a few steps, you’ll have an elegant, creamy, and flavorful appetizer, perfect for serving hot directly at the table, capable of winning everyone over at the first taste.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)
Can I use another type of cheese instead of camembert?
Absolutely! Creamy cheeses like brie or taleggio work very well and maintain the soft and melty texture of the dish.
What type of bread is best for this recipe?
A rustic bread, like a baguette or ciabatta, slightly toasted, is ideal to hold up the melted camembert and prosciutto without getting too soggy.
Can I prepare the toasted bread with camembert in advance?
Yes, you can prepare the balsamic onions and slice the bread in advance, but it’s best to assemble and heat the crostini right before serving to keep the camembert creamy.
