The Melty Christmas Tree is a recipe that’s beautiful to look at and delicious to eat! It’s quick to prepare and can be filled with the ingredients you have in the fridge; for example, you can use only cheese or replace the cooked ham with salami.
My favorite combination is a pizza base filled with cooked ham and melting cheese, because it gives the recipe a delicate but pleasant flavor!
Quick and tasty recipe that doesn’t require many steps or many ingredients. All you need is a roll of pizza dough (you can also make it at home by following my Basic Pizza Dough recipe) and the ingredients to fill the tree: cooked ham and stringy cheese!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Affordable
- Rest time: 15 Minutes
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 4 People
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Christmas
Ingredients
- 1 roll of pizza dough
- 7 oz cheese (type: Galbanino)
- 4 oz cooked ham (diced)
- 1 egg yolk
Steps
From the roll of pizza dough, cut out about 20 small squares.
On each square place the stringy cheese and the diced cooked ham.
Fold each square over itself, forming little balls.
Arrange the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to form a tree shape.
Brush with the beaten egg yolk and let rest for about 15 minutes (a fundamental step if you made the base dough yourself).
Bake at 356°F for about 20 minutes or until the surface is golden.
Serve and… Enjoy!
Storing the Melty Christmas Tree is quite simple: just close it in an airtight container or cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap. Obviously it can be kept until the next day but no longer, otherwise the dough will become dry and lose its softness.
