- Difficulty: Very Easy

- Preparation time: 10 Minutes

- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 1 mango (ripe)
- 1 banana (not too large)
- 2/3 cup milk (dairy or plant-based of choice: almond, coconut, oat)
- 1 tbsp sugar (adjust to your taste)
- 2 ice cubes ice
Tools
- 1 Blender
- 1 Cup
Steps
First, peel the mango and banana: cut the mango into cubes and the banana into slices. If you prefer, you can freeze the banana for at least 30 minutes before, for a colder and thicker smoothie. I used it at room temperature and added ice cubes.
Once the fruit is ready, place it in the blender. Add the milk (dairy or plant-based: I used oat milk) and 1 tablespoon of sugar (if you prefer you can add 2 or even skip it for a lighter version) and the ice cubes.
Turn on the blender and blend for about 1 minute or until you get a creamy mixture. If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash of milk. If it is too liquid, add a bit more frozen banana or some more ice cubes. Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve. Delicious!

Storage
Mango and banana smoothie is best consumed immediately after preparation to fully enjoy its freshness, flavor, and nutritional value. However, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 24-48 hours, sealed in an airtight container. The presence of banana and milk (especially dairy milk) may slightly reduce its shelf life.
Freezing the smoothie is a great way to preserve it longer and have it ready when you need it. You can freeze it for up to 2-3 months.
Tips and Suggestions
The mango and banana smoothie is already delicious on its own, but with a few small tweaks and additions, you can achieve perfection:
– Frozen Fruit, the Secret to Creaminess: for an ultra-creamy, cold, and thick smoothie (without needing to add ice that dilutes the flavor a bit), always use frozen banana and/or mango. You can cut ripe fruit into pieces and freeze it in food bags. I didn’t have time to freeze it, but even with the addition of ice, I still liked it very much.
– Choose well-ripened mangoes and bananas. They are sweeter, easier to blend, and have a more intense and aromatic flavor.
– Start with the minimum amount of milk (about ½ cup). Add more a tablespoon at a time if the blender struggles or if you prefer a more liquid consistency.
– The choice of milk depends a lot on the taste you prefer, the desired consistency, and any dietary needs. For a neutral taste and good creaminess, use dairy milk (whole or skim) or oat milk (as I did); for a more tropical touch, choose coconut milk and for a light and delicate option, almond milk is perfect.
– Use a powerful blender for a really smooth, lump-free texture. Blend until completely homogeneous.
– Serve immediately: smoothies, in general, are best just made. Time can alter its texture and color.
Variants
– For an Extra Dose of Flavor and Freshness, you can add a piece of fresh ginger grated or chopped, which goes great with mango, or a few fresh mint leaves, for an ultra-refreshing aroma.
– Add some pineapple pieces (fresh or frozen) to enhance the tropical note or try adding half a peach or an apricot.
