Potato Gateau Sticks, a leftover-saving recipe to recycle leftovers. Tasty and intriguing: perfect also as finger food, accompanied by your favorite sauce.
Sometimes I have leftover potato gateau and since the next day, when reheated, no one wants it, I often use this trick. I cut many sticks from the leftover gateau, dip them in egg, then coat them with breadcrumbs along with a nice handful of Parmesan and fry them. Very good. I’ll just say that they compete to see who can eat more.
For this reason, I always make a little more, so I also have lunch ready for the next day. Simple tricks that simplify life and prevent waste.
But now let’s see together how to make the Potato Gateau Sticks. Prepare the ingredients and let’s start.
And if you try them, don’t forget to let me know in the comments on my Facebook page HERE. I’m waiting for you.

Ingredients
- as needed potato gateau
- 2 eggs
- as needed breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
- as needed extra virgin olive oil (for frying)
Tools
To make the Potato Gateau Sticks, you need:
- 1 Deep Plate
- 1 Plate
- 1 Pan
- 1 Electric Grater
Steps
First, cut the leftover potato gateau into fairly uniform slices.
In a deep plate, beat one egg (or 2 if small; it depends on the amount of gateau you have) and add the gateau slices, letting them rest.
Meanwhile, in another plate, put the breadcrumbs and 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan; blend well, then coat the sticks thoroughly in the breadcrumbs.
Place a pan with the oil on medium/high heat and let it heat up. When the oil is hot, cook the gateau sticks on both sides: they should be golden. If you like them crunchier, leave them a few more minutes, but don’t let them burn.
Once all are cooked, place them on kitchen paper to remove excess oil and serve hot, accompanied by your favorite sauce: mayonnaise or ketchup. Here are the Potato Gateau Sticks ready. Enjoy your meal!
Until the next recipe.

Storage
I recommend consuming the breaded gateau sticks immediately to maintain their crunchiness. If any are left over, store them in the refrigerator covered with food wrap and heat them in the microwave as needed.
