Potato Pie with Meatballs, perfect as a single dish for dinner. Easy and tasty, this potato pie is loved by almost everyone, including children.

Moreover, it’s an alternative way to accompany the classic meatballs in sauce. I prepared these with my mom’s recipe. If you want, you can make them in advance, even the day before, and then just focus on preparing the pie.

Ingredients

  • 25 oz potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • to taste salt
  • to taste butter (for the pan)
  • to taste breadcrumbs (for the pan)
  • 5 oz mozzarella
  • to taste mozzarella (sliced)
  • to taste meatballs

Tools

  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Potato Masher
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Tart Pan

Steps

  • First, cook the potatoes. Wash and boil them, with the skin, in plenty of water for 20-25 minutes. If you use a pressure cooker, consider 12 minutes from when it starts whistling. Once cooked, peel them and pass them through the potato masher.

  • Add the grated Parmesan (or Grana Padano) and salt. Add the egg, beat with a fork, and mix well.

  • Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375°F, in “ventilated” mode. Meanwhile, prepare the meatballs following my recipe here.

  • Take a tart pan, the one with the smart mold, grease it well with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Pour in the potato mixture, level well, and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.

  • After 20 minutes, remove from the oven, cover with a large plate that can go in the oven (it must perfectly cover the pie) and flip it (first try to loosen it), cover with cheese cubes and put back in the oven for another 5 minutes.

  • Once the meatballs are ready, place them on the potato pie, accompanied by their sauce, and serve hot. Here’s the Potato Pie with Meatballs in Sauce ready. Enjoy your meal!

Storage

You can store the Potato Pie with Meatballs in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, closed in an airtight container. Before serving, heat it in the oven (or microwave) for about ten minutes and enjoy.
