Puff Pastry Spoons with Tuna Mousse: easy, quick, and delicious recipe. Ideal as an appetizer for Christmas parties or as finger food for a buffet or aperitif.
Very simple to make: no special molds needed, just some simple steel teaspoons that will be used for cutting the shapes and for baking.
For the filling, you can use whichever you prefer. I made a very easy and quick tuna mousse by putting tuna, soft cheese (like Philadelphia), and capers into the blender; I blended everything, put it into a pastry bag, and filled the spoons.
Really delicious, they were gone in a flash.
I recommend consuming them within the day. If stored in the refrigerator, the puff pastry would absorb too much moisture, becoming soft. At most, you can prepare the spoons in advance, store them at room temperature in a food bag, and fill them just before serving or a few minutes before.
But now, let’s see together how to prepare the Puff Pastry Spoons with Tuna Mousse recipe. Prepare the ingredients, and let’s start.

Ingredients for the Puff Pastry Spoons with Tuna Mousse
- 1 sheet puff pastry (whole wheat or classic)
- 3.5 oz Canned Tuna
- 3.5 oz soft table cheese (like Philadelphia)
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional – I didn't add it)
- 5 Capers (amount to taste)
- to taste green olives (for garnish)
- to taste salami (for accompanying)
Tools
To make the Puff Pastry Spoons with Tuna Mousse, you will need:
- 1 Baking Tray
- 12 Teaspoons steel
- 1 Knife
- 1 Blender
- 1 Pastry Bag
Preparation of the Puff Pastry Spoons with Tuna Mousse
First, take the puff pastry out of the fridge, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes, unroll it, and place the steel teaspoons on top, which will be used to shape it.
With a knife, follow the outline of the teaspoon and cut the pastry. After cutting the spoons, place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and place the steel teaspoons on top, for baking. This process will help shape the pastry and prevent it from puffing up excessively.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 392°F (200°C), using the “fan” setting. Bake for about 5 minutes. Check the cooking, they should be nicely golden. Let them cool, then gently remove the spoon.
While the pastry is in the oven, prepare the tuna mousse. Place the Philadelphia, tuna, capers, and mayonnaise (if you like; I didn’t add it) in the blender and blend until you get a smooth cream. Insert the mixture into a pastry bag and fill the puff pastry spoons. Plate and decorate with green olives cut into rings and salami petals.
Here are the Puff Pastry Spoons with Tuna Mousse ready. Enjoy your meal!
Until the next recipe.
Storage
You can store the Puff Pastry Spoons with Mousse in a cool, dry place for one day: it’s recommended to consume them within the day, otherwise the puff pastry will become soft.

Tips and Suggestions
– Salami: I made salami petals (which go well with the spoons) by cutting the slice with a leaf-shaped cookie cutter.
– Filling: for the cream used for filling, you can replace the tuna with salmon or mortadella or ham, for example, or with whichever ingredient you prefer. They are also perfect with just cheese or vegetables for a vegetarian version.
– No waste: with the leftover pastry, you can make baskets, to be filled with any remaining mousse.
