apple swirls with jam
  • Cost: Very economical
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: about 10-12 pieces
  • Cooking methods: Electric oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 2 rolls puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 apple
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Half teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 jar apricot jam (or flavor of choice)

Tools

  • Bowl
  • Cupcake liners
  • Baking tray
  • Knife

Steps

  • First, wash, peel, and cut an apple into small chunks.

  • Place in a bowl, sweeten to taste with one or two teaspoons of sugar.

  • Flavor with half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon (only if you like).

  • Mix and set aside.

  • Unroll the rectangular puff pastry on a work surface.

  • Using a spatula, spread the jam over the entire surface

  • I chose apricot, but any other flavor works.

  • Spread all the apple chunks on top, distributing them over the surface.

  • Leave just a few millimeters free around the entire perimeter of the pastry.

  • Place the second roll of puff pastry on top, sealing the edges well.

  • With a sharp knife, cut the pastry vertically into strips of the desired width.

  • Roll each strip onto itself until you get a swirl.

  • Place each swirl in a parchment-lined muffin cup and then in a muffin tin or tray.

  • If you don’t have parchment liners, grease and flour a muffin tin for easier baking.

  • Don’t worry if some filling spills out while rolling the strip, it’s normal!

  • Once all the swirls are rolled, bake them in a preheated static oven at 350°F for about 30 minutes.

  • When you have beautifully golden apple swirls, remove them from the oven and let them cool on a rack.

  • If you used parchment liners, remove them before the swirls become cold.

  • You can dust the apple and jam swirls with powdered sugar or enjoy them as they are!
