More dog biscuits with fruit and oats, a tasty and healthy treat made with fresh ingredients to make our furry friends happy. They are easily made at home, as long as you adhere to the simple rules I’ve written in the recipe for dog biscuits with tuna, carrots, and banana.
For this delicious version with fruit and oats, I used a cookie cutter in the shape of a little dachshund (click on the link to see where I bought it) especially because our little one named Matita is, in fact, a dachshund. But feel free to use any cookie cutter shape you have available.
She adores Aunt Patty’s homemade biscuits, which I always have ready because they can easily be frozen and taken out 5-10 minutes before giving them to your dog, always in moderation. You can also bake your dog biscuits in the air fryer (isn’t that fantastic?).
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Very cheap
- Rest time: 20 Minutes
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 30 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Oven, Air frying
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 1 cup oat flour
- 1 cup gluten-free rice flour
- 1/2 cup banana
- 1/2 apple (grated – beware of apple seeds harmful to dogs)
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp olive oil (or flaxseed oil)
Steps
In a bowl, mash the banana and grate the apple. Add the egg, honey, and oil and mix everything together with a fork.
Combine the oat flour and rice flour, mix it with the fruit, and knead to form a dough. Let it rest in the bowl for at least 20 minutes, covered with plastic wrap and kept cool in the refrigerator.
After resting, take the dough and roll it out on a sheet of parchment paper lightly dusted with rice flour.
Using a cookie cutter (in the shape you like, I used the little dachshund one linked above in the recipe introduction), cut out the biscuits and place them on the baking tray to bake at 320°F for about 25-40 minutes, until fully cooked depending on the thickness you’ve made. When they are dry and crunchy, they are ready.
They can also be baked in the air fryer, same temperature, same time.
Store them in a jar in the fridge or freeze them to always have them ready when needed.
Beware of prohibited foods for dogs.
