MARGHERITA PIZZA with Air Fryer

Making Margherita pizza with an air fryer is fun, easy, and allows you to achieve a perfect pizza, making you forget the traditional oven for a moment. With the air fryer, you will have a baby plate pizza for one person, a child, or a tasty snack or a treat.

Starting from my famous dough for Margherita plate pizza, I will mainly teach you the procedure for cooking pizza in the air fryer with a single top resistance (I have a Casori 5.5 lt) and give you the dose for 1 square tray of 20×20 cm (about 8 inches by 8 inches). or round with a diameter of 20 cm (8 inches). Double the doses according to how many pizzas you want to make. You will need, in addition to a good dough, also a good tomato puree, mozzarella cheese, oregano, and extra virgin olive oil.

Ingredients

  • 4.4 oz all-purpose flour
  • 0.3 cup water (room temperature)
  • 0.14 oz fresh yeast
  • 0.07 oz sugar
  • 0.14 oz fine salt
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 0.4 cup tomato puree
  • 2.1 oz mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste salt, fresh oregano (optional)

Steps

  • In a large bowl, sift the flour and crumble the fresh yeast on top.

    Add the sugar and pour the room temperature water over it. Mix the ingredients with a spoon and gather all the flour by compacting it.

    At this point, add the salt and knead it into the mixture, finally add the oil and knead well. Form a dough ball and let it rise in the bowl covered with plastic wrap for about 1 and a half hours, until doubled in size.

    Roll out the dough in the previously oiled tray.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 392°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.

    Place the tray in the basket and do the first cooking in the air fryer at 392°F (200°C) for 8 minutes.

    Remove the basket and flip the pizza in the tray, using tongs, then do the second cooking in the air fryer at 392°F (200°C) for 2 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, prepare the tomato puree by putting it in a bowl, season it with salt, oil, and oregano (to taste or fresh basil).

    Chop and dice the mozzarella cheese.

  • After the second 2-minute cooking on the other side of the pizza, remove the basket, spread the tomato over the pizza, and sprinkle with mozzarella.

    Finish cooking the Margherita pizza in the air fryer at 392°F (200°C) for 6 minutes.
