ORANGE, CARROT, AND GINGER JAM

in ,

The orange, carrot, and ginger jam is really good, healthy, and natural. It is easily prepared, in a pot or with the Thermomix if you have one, and will accompany you during your morning breakfasts. Spread it on slices of toasted bread or rusks, over a layer of butter, and it will give you great satisfaction.

Let’s see together how to prepare the orange, carrot, and ginger jam, which I often make for my family but also to gift to the dearest friends.

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very economical
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 3 jars of 12 oz
  • Cooking methods: Other
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 14 oz oranges (peeled)
  • 14 oz carrots
  • 1 oz fresh ginger
  • 1 lemon (peeled)
  • 14 oz sugar

Steps

  • Peel and section the oranges, removing the skin and eliminating as much of the white membrane as possible, then cut into pieces.

  • Wash and clean the carrots well.

Grate the carrots manually, or blend them in the Thermomix with a few tablespoons of water

In a large pot, place the oranges and chopped carrots, add the peeled and sectioned lemon pieces, sugar, and ginger. Bring to a boil and reduce the mixture slightly. Blend it and finish cooking the jam until it reaches the right consistency (about an hour). Finally, pour the hot jam into sterilized jars and store in a cool place.

If using the Thermomix, put the oranges, grated carrots, lemon, sugar, and ginger in the mixing bowl, blend everything and then cook the jam at 212°F, speed 2 for 50 minutes – 1 hour, until it has reduced to the right consistency. Finally, jar it.
