Canapés with Goat Cheese, Honey, and Walnuts

Today we are talking about canapés with goat cheese, honey, and walnuts, a delight that plays on contrasts of textures, fragrances, and aromas, in a chic appetizer that is very easy, delicious, and quick to make. I will prepare it for Christmas lunch, but it is actually perfect all year round and for all festive occasions. It’s a recipe that belongs to the so-called finger food category, meaning all those preparations that can be comfortably eaten with hands, without violating the rules of “Good Manners”. I love them, especially because they significantly reduce the number of dishes and cutlery to wash, and this is an element not to be overlooked, especially during festive periods.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy

  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette
  • 7 oz spreadable goat cheese
  • 20 shelled walnuts
  • to taste wildflower honey

Tools

  • 1 Wooden Spoon Honey Dipper
  • 1 Knife

Steps

Making these canapés is very easy and quick.

Let’s start by shelling the walnuts. Remove any waste parts and crush them with a pestle, or with your hands, on a plate.

Cut the baguette into slices about the width of a finger.

With a butter knife or a teaspoon, take a quantity of goat cheese and spread it on the canapés, without pressing the cheese too much.

When we’ve finished spreading the cheese on all the canapés, cover them with walnut crumbs and place them on a serving platter. We can also prepare them well in advance, taking care to store them well-sealed in a cake container.

Finally, add a drizzle of wildflower honey when serving; alternatively, diners can add it to taste using the classic honey dipper (preferably small, like those 4 inches long), or teaspoons or coffee stirrers.

Bon appetit
