Time for homemade liqueurs to gift on special occasions. Today I propose a very delicious and aromatic creamy cocoa liqueur, to drink with friends or serve at room temperature or cold at the end of a meal. I found this wonderful recipe here. It is a very easy liqueur, gluten-free, quick to prepare and it will win you over from the first sip with its inviting taste and aroma. I especially like to prepare them as gifts, for example at Christmas or for Father’s Day.

- Difficulty: Very Easy
- Cost: Economical
- Rest time: 30 Days
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 3 L
- Cooking methods: Boiling
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All Seasons, Christmas
Ingredients
- 1 qt whole milk (fresh or uht)
- 2 cups liquid fresh cream
- 2.2 lbs sugar
- 8.8 oz unsweetened cocoa powder
- 7 oz grain alcohol at 90*
- 1/4 tsp Vanilla paste or extract (or 2 sachets of pure vanillin)
- as needed orange peel
Steps
With these quantities, we will get about 3 liters of cocoa liqueur. If you wish to make less or more, simply halve or double the ingredient quantities.
1) In a large pot, place the sifted cocoa, vanilla, and sugar and mix them perfectly with a fork.
2) Add a strip of orange zest (well washed and without the white inner part), milk, and liquid cream, continuing to stir until you get a creamy and smooth mixture.
3) Place the mixture on the smallest burner over low heat and cook until it reaches the first boil (approximately 10-15 minutes), ensuring the sugar has dissolved perfectly. Wait another minute and then turn off the heat. Let the mixture cool completely.
4) Only when the mixture is perfectly cold, remove the orange peel and add the alcohol. Mix well and bottle with airtight caps.
5) Shake our delicious creamy cocoa liqueur at least once a day and keep it in a dark, cool place for 30 days.
