Golden milk or “golden milk” is a delicious and aromatic beverage natural, gluten-free (and also lactose-free if using the appropriate milk) based on turmeric paste, oil, cinnamon, and milk (dairy or plant-based). The name of this delightful preparation comes from the intense golden yellow color, due to the presence of turmeric. It is precisely the presence of “curcumin,” the active ingredient of turmeric, that makes this drink very healthy for our body. Each of the ingredients in this preparation has a purpose, it is not included by chance; together, they contribute to making it special, not only in taste or aroma but also as a natural remedy. Golden milk is used in Ayurvedic medicine to regulate blood pressure, as a pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, to cleanse the liver and body, to strengthen the immune system, and so on. It also helps to lubricate joints and improve joint flexibility. Golden milk, or golden milk, is also great for fighting the ailments of the first colds.

- Difficulty: Very Easy
- Cost: Very Cheap
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 1
- Cooking methods: Stovetop
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All Seasons
Ingredients
- 0.88 oz turmeric powder
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric paste
- to taste honey
- 1/2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil (also olive, rice)
- to taste ground cinnamon (or stick)
Tools
- 1 Jar 3.5 oz
Steps
Prepare the turmeric paste by putting the water, turmeric powder, and ground pepper (which will allow our body to assimilate the curcumin) in a small saucepan. Stir continuously over low heat until you get a thick and lump-free paste (about 1 minute). Turn off and let it cool. When the turmeric paste is cold, transfer it to a sterilized small jar (a 3.5 oz one is fine for us) with an airtight lid and put it in the fridge. It keeps for about 40 days. Wait at least a day before using it.
Prepare the golden milk by melting in a small saucepan, over low heat, 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric paste, the honey, and the oil in the milk. Stir often and when the milk is very hot, turn off, pour into the cup and sprinkle our homemade golden milk with ground cinnamon.
Extra idea. We can replace the ground cinnamon with the stick. Put it in the milk with all the other ingredients and proceed to prepare our drink as described above. This way, the golden milk will become even more aromatic and tasty. This is my favorite version.
