Refreshing Ginger and Lemon Iced Tea.

Ginger and lemon iced tea is a refreshing and invigorating non-alcoholic drink that contains no gluten, lactose, or milk proteins. It’s perfect for the summer season, to beat the heat; to prepare it, we will need a few ingredients, all easily available. Ginger and lemon iced tea is very easy, aromatic, ideal as a drink to offer guests or to take to work, the beach; or to sip after physical activity.

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 2 Hours
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 5
  • Cooking methods: Boiling
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Summer

Ingredients

  • 4 1/4 cups water
  • 0.18 oz fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon black tea (or 1 bag)
  • honey or other sweetener
  • 1 lemon

Steps

Pour the water into a large saucepan. Add the peeled and chopped ginger root and the washed lemon peel (be sure to only take the yellow part).

Bring to a boil and let it simmer for 5 minutes, covered, on low heat.

After 5 minutes, turn off the heat and immediately add the tea; cover and let it steep for a maximum of 5/7 minutes.

To perfectly filter the drink from the tiny tea leaf residues, we can use a small steel infuser (like the one in the photo below), filled with the amount of tea we need for this preparation.

After the steeping time, filter out the tea and other spices, sweeten to taste and pour the drink into a glass bottle (without sealing it), leaving it at room temperature.

After a couple of hours, transfer the bottle to the fridge.

Enjoy our refreshing ginger and lemon tea well chilled, accompanied by lemon slices.

If you don’t like black tea, you can use another of your choice, personally I prefer black tea in this recipe.
