- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Economical
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 14 hearts
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: Valentine's Day
Ingredients
- 8.8 oz All-purpose flour
- 3.5 tbsp Butter (very soft)
- 1.8 oz Vanilla powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 0.25 oz Baking powder
- 1 pinch Fine salt
- to taste Lemon zest
- 1.4 oz Dark chocolate
- 1 tsp Milk
Preparation
In a stand mixer, sift the flour, add the baking powder, salt, grated zest of a lemon, powdered sugar, milk, and very soft butter. Mix just enough to bind the ingredients and obtain a firm dough.
Dust a work surface with flour. Roll out a sheet 1/2 finger thick. Cut with 2.4 inch heart-shaped cutters.
Make a deep indentation in each heart using a stick or the tip of a wooden spoon handle.
Place the hearts on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake them, in a preheated oven, at 350°F, for about 20 minutes or until they are evenly golden.
If the ‘indentations’ close up due to the baking powder, just remake them as soon as they come out of the oven, while the cookies are still hot.
While the hearts cool, melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler with a teaspoon of milk. Once melted, pour a scant teaspoon into each indentation, filling them. Let the hearts cool before enjoying them.
