It’s always difficult to make a treat that is easy, delicious, and also light, but with these apple and cinnamon swirls, you can’t go wrong. They are delightful and take no time to make, especially since I used ready-made puff pastry. They are also vegan, but make sure you buy a 100% vegetable-based pastry.
As always, it’s important to measure the quantities well, so if you follow my instructions and use the pastry this way, each treat will contain little and the final result will be apple and cinnamon swirls with very few Weight Watchers points.
The filling should also not be too high in calories, so I made it with fruit. The best fruit is the one that doesn’t release too much liquid while cooking, so I used apples with the ever-present cinnamon. Let’s make them…

- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 20 swirls
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Healthy
- Seasonality: All Seasons, Christmas
Ingredients
- 1 roll puff pastry (vegetable-based, read the Notes for more info)
- 3 apples
- 1 ½ tbsp brown sugar
- to taste lemon juice
- 3 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp vegetable milk
- 1 tsp powdered sugar
- Points per swirl = 1.6 WW points
- Points for 2 swirls = 3 WW points
Preparation
Wash, peel, and core the 3 apples, grate them, and season them with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well.
Roll out the puff pastry and spread the apples over it.
Distribute the apples evenly to the edges, leaving just a bit of empty space on one of the long edges, as shown in the photos.
Start rolling the pastry from the long side, trying to create a roll that is uniformly “chubby” along the entire length and tightly packed, without leaving gaps inside.
Once rolled, wrap it in its paper, place it on a tray, and put it in the freezer for about half an hour so that it solidifies.
If it’s too long to fit in the freezer, you can cut it in two halves, being very careful to make a clean cut as it is still very soft.
Once cold, remove it from the paper, and you will see that it is easy to cut into 20 slices of about ¾ inch each with a sharp knife.
Place the swirls on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and brush the tops and edges of all the swirls with vegetable milk.
Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F for 15-20 minutes, until the apple swirls are golden brown. Then let them cool on the baking sheet, otherwise, they will be too moist to remove from the parchment paper: this step is very important. Once the baking sheet is cold, remove the swirls gently with a spatula.
The apple and cinnamon swirls are ready, and if you want, you can sprinkle them with a bit of powdered sugar, especially for aesthetics.
And for the Christmas table, you can place them on a large white plate in the shape of a tree and then decorate them as I did, cute, right?
But most importantly, they are good and delicious! Here at my house, 20 swirls lasted 15 minutes, can you believe it? They were fully approved by the whole family, and I managed to get only two, so they are worth making again! Now it’s your turn, I’m waiting for your comments and photos.
Enjoy!

Notes
Chiara, a longtime reader of mine, told me that she uses the rectangular vegan “Light Puff Pastry” from the “Vivo Meglio” brand. Dimensions and weight are practically the same as the pastry I used, but the points with Chiara’s pastry decrease: 1 swirl is 1.30 PP and 2 swirls are 2.70 PP. Good to know!
