English trifle with ladyfingers and fruit

in

Today I have a sweet treat for you, my dear readers, which is really easy to prepare and delicious: a light version of English trifle. To avoid making sponge cake, I prepared it with ladyfingers and added strawberries, but we can also use berries or other fruit of choice.

The process is very simple because the only thing to prepare is the eggless custard following my recipe, and then assemble the glasses.

The result is a dessert that is truly delicious and certainly much lighter than the classic English trifle. Of course, if you want to prepare it for children, it is better to use the non-alcoholic Alchermes syrup, please make sure to do so. Let’s get started.

You can find some other sweet treats with strawberries here:

  • Prepare the English trifle directly in the serving glasses. Dip two pieces of ladyfingers in the Alchermes syrup and place them in the glass, add a spoonful of custard, and a sprinkle of cocoa. Finish with a handful of chopped fruit and repeat for two more layers. Repeat with the other glass.

Note: The most practical thing to do is to divide the custard into two equal portions so that it is easier to distribute it evenly in the two glasses.

  • Here at home, it was very well received, even by the Dutchman who, for those of you who follow me, is always very critical, especially with light desserts. I did have to find myself a gourmet Dutchman! But he gobbled up his little glass without making any strange faces, in fact… he licked his lips!

So go ahead, prepare this delicious dessert and then let me know if you liked it.

    Enjoy!
