Gnocchi with Butter and Sage

Gnocchi already cook very quickly, and with this recipe even the sauce comes together in no time: gnocchi with butter and sage are ready in just 3 minutes.
A very simple first course, perfect even for kitchen beginners and ideal to prepare at the last minute or when you have little time.
I love them and often make them in many different variations: from creamier versions to tomato-based ones. For me they’re simply to die for!

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very inexpensive
  • Preparation time: 1 Minute
  • Portions: 2
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients for the gnocchi

  • 7.8 oz potato gnocchi
  • 3/4 tbsp butter
  • 2 leaves sage
  • salt

Tools

  • Pot
  • Frying pan
  • Slotted spoon

Gnocchi preparation

  • To prepare gnocchi with butter and sage, start by placing a large pot filled with water on the heat and bring it to a boil. Salt the water, then add the gnocchi and cook them until they float to the surface (about 2 minutes from boiling).
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a frying pan and add the sage leaves, letting them release their flavor over low heat.
Drain the gnocchi with a slotted spoon and transfer them directly into the pan with the flavored butter. Toss gently for less than a minute, just long enough to coat them well.
Plate and serve immediately, very hot.

Tips

Once plated, you can finish the gnocchi with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese, if you like, or with freshly ground black pepper. For an even more intense aroma, add a few sage leaves directly to the plate.

Gnocchi with butter and sage should always be served very hot to enjoy them at their best.
